3. A release from from the police department if your vehicle is on hold
4. Payment in full (No personal checks will be accepted)
By Illinois state law (625 ILCS 5/4-203) Any personal property belonging to the vehicle owner in the vehicle shall be subject to a possessor lien for towing services provided, excepting items defined by law. Personal property within or upon towed vehicles must be released to the vehicle owner upon demand after the owner has satisfied charges applicable up to that time.
Items that will be released (during normal business hours) without payment: handicapped placards, child restraint devices, cash, checks, credit cards, food and perishable property, medicine, operator’s license or ID, wallet, purse, checkbook.
Items that will not be released until payment is made: radios, stereos (including speaker boxes and amps), battery or other engine or car parts, rims, tires, floor mats, electronics, clothing, shoes, and other item not listed under 625/ILCS 5/4-203. We will only release property from a vehicle to the legal registered owner. There are no exceptions to this rule. You must be able to show valid identification and proof of current registration in your name to claim any property.
Under (625 ILCS 5/4-201) of the vehicle code it is unlawful to abandon a vehicle in the state of Illinois and is subject to penalties under the law. It is the policy of SCR Towing & Recovery to pursue all means necessary to resolve your legal obligation. We have the right to take you, and all parties listed by the secretary of state to have an interest in the vehicle to small claims court. We also have the right to refer this matter to a collection agency for the balance owed. We will report any unpaid debt to credit reporting agencies.
